Privacy & Data

Your words, your control. Here's exactly what we keep, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Effective 14 July 2026

1. Who we are

The Awaken Buddha ("TAB", "we", "us") is a reading and writing platform available on the web and as a mobile app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have. It applies to both our website and our Android/iOS apps.

2. Information we collect

Account information you give us — your name, username, email and/or phone, bio, avatar and any profile details you add.

Content you create — posts, articles, threads, drafts, comments, reactions, highlights, bookmarks and collections. Creating and sharing this content is the core purpose of the app.

Technical information — device type, operating system, app version, and basic diagnostic/crash data used to keep the service running, secure and fast.

If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile (name, email, profile photo) to create and secure your account. We do not receive your Google password.

3. How we use your information

  • To create your account and show your posts, comments and profile to other readers.
  • To help people discover your work through search, explore and recommendations.
  • To keep the platform safe — preventing spam, abuse, impersonation and plagiarism.
  • To send you important service updates and, if you allow it, notifications about activity on your content.
  • To fix bugs, measure performance and improve the product.

4. Who can see your data

Public content you choose to publish — your posts, bio and profile photo — can be seen by anyone using the app.

Private data such as your phone number or email is never sold and is not shared with third parties for advertising. We may share the minimum necessary information with trusted service providers (for example, hosting, push-notification and analytics providers) strictly to operate the service, or with authorities where required by law or to investigate abuse, fraud or safety issues.

5. Your choices and rights

  • Edit your profile and content at any time.
  • Delete posts you created — once deleted, they stop being shown publicly.
  • Request a full account deletion and a copy (export) of your data by emailing us.
  • Mute or block other users, and control notification preferences in Settings.

6. Content ownership

You own the content you create. By posting on TAB you grant us a licence to display and distribute that content within the app and in the features that make it work — feeds, search, notifications and recommendations. This licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies we may keep briefly in backups or for moderation and dispute resolution.

7. Data retention & security

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete content or your account, we remove it from public view and delete it from our active systems within a reasonable period, retaining limited copies only where required for security, legal or moderation reasons.

We protect your data with industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information.

8. Children

TAB is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
