The Career Questions Nobody Asks You (But Should)
We spend 90,000 hours at work, yet rarely pause to ask ourselves the questions that truly shape our path. Here are five questions worth sitting with.
What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?
This isn't just a motivational cliché. It strips away the fear of judgment and financial insecurity. Write down the answer without editing. Then ask: what's stopping you from taking one small step toward it today? The gap between your dream and your reality is often just a series of un-taken small steps.

Define success on your terms
What did you love doing before you got told to be practical?
As kids, we knew what brought us joy—building, drawing, helping, exploring. Then we were told to be 'realistic.' But your natural talents and interests are often hidden in those childhood passions. What's one hobby or interest you've abandoned that you could revive as a side project?
The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.
Mark Twain

What would your career look like if you had no limits?
What problem do you want to be known for solving?
Careers are built on the problems we solve. Not job titles or salaries. When you shift from 'What do I want to be?' to 'What problem do I want to solve?' your options expand. Write down three problems you'd love to tackle. Then choose one to start exploring.
If you had 6 months to live, how would you spend your workdays?
This is the toughest question. It forces you to confront what truly matters. You wouldn't waste a minute on meaningless meetings or tasks. What would you do instead? Start eliminating one thing from your workweek that you'd drop if time were short.
